An important gateway between end users and the telco core network, the Central Office (CO) plays a critical role. Many, if not all, of the innovative and powerful 5G use cases demand the application services to be dynamically provisioned from anywhere in the network, which imposes the requirements for Telco operators to transform their Central Office (CO) from traditional infrastructure which is based on proprietary hardware centric design, to an open hardware platform which is based on software, hardware disaggregation architecture.

QCT’s Central Office 2.0 is the answer to the next generation telco cloud’s needs: for a commodity-based, cloud-ready central office.

CORD (Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter), a project led by Open Networking Foundation, is a new design of a telecommunications central office that replaces closed and proprietary hardware with commodity servers, switches, and access devices plus software. It is an end-to-end solution that combines SDN, NFV, Cloud principles, to deliver datacenter economies of scale and cloud-style agility to service provider networks.

With the supports from Open Networking Foundation and Intel, QCT built the world first integrated CORD Pod solution on Purley platform. QCT provide a one-stop-shopping for a CORD platform that has been validated. QCT CORD Ready Rack provide the CORD platform to enable service for residential, mobile and enterprise customers. QCT provide variety server and switch to meet CPU, network, storage resource requirement for different workloads.

Rackgo R is a complete solution with its own optimized rack level management, QCT System Manager (QSM) Premium. With Rackgo R administrators can seamlessly disaggregate, pool, compose and decompose resources to support a variety of utilization requirements within the same data center as workloads change. Network mappings are created on-the-go, helping IT teams visualize where they need more or less resources.

By leveraging QCT RSD capabilities, it is possible for OpenStack environment to deliver dynamic deployment and scaling in the data center. That is, OpenStack cloud can deploy the whole infrastructure via QCT Pod Manager(PODM) to reduce the manual errors, to accelerate the time-consuming deployment task and to elastically scale-out or scale-in the compute services based on the demands of the operation or business requirement.
